Class Actions

A class action is where one or a few individuals bring a lawsuit on behalf of a larger class of people. This type of case is used when an employer has an illegal policy or practice which affects a group of employees the same way. For example, if a company is not paying overtime to a group of employees who should receive overtime, that would be a violation of federal and state wage and hour laws. Instead of each employee bringing a lawsuit individually, a class action permits one or more employees to bring the case as representatives of the class of affected employees.

Connor & Sargent has extensive experience litigating class actions, and we regularly co-counsel with other attorneys who have a client with claims that may impact a group of employees and are unfamiliar with the class action process. If you are an attorney and would like to consult with Connor & Sargent PLLC about co-counseling a class action case, please contact us.
